It is no secret that the Switch has become some what of a runaway success. This is even more apparent in Japan where portables tend to sell incredibly well. The interesting thing is that Japan serves as home to not only Nintendo, but Sony as well where the Playstation 4 has sold roughly 6,540,000 million units.
Interestingly enough, in less than the two years that the Switch has been out, it has sold 6,670,000 million units in Japan just narrowly edging out the PS4 sales. This does not include the PS4 Pro sales however.
The story reads a little differently where global sales are concerned where the PS4 has sold over 88 million units compared to the 22 million Switch units sold (the reported sales number as of this past September). Still, the Switch has been selling very well and if it keeps going at this pace then who knows…maybe one day we will be reporting that the Switch has overtaken the PS4 in global sales but for now, we are still a long ways off.
