Have you ever wondered how Nintendo came up with the Smash Bros logo or if there was any kind of meaning behind it at all?  Honestly, I always thought it looked cool but never really gave much thought as to what it meant.

In a recent YouTube video released on Nintendo of Japan’s channel, Masahiro Sakurai explains the meaning behind the symbol.  He states that:

  • The crossing of the lines represent the crossover of the game…meaning all of Nintendo’s characters coming together for one game
  • The four sections of the symbol represent multiplayer.  Smash has been around since N64 and we all know that the N64 could only accommodate up to 4 players
