Okay, first, let me apologize for not doing a live blog last night for The Game Awards 2018. I actually had a prior family obligation that we had been planning for about 6 months.
So with that out of the way, The Game Awards last night was….well, somewhat disappointing. There were a few surprises but nothing in the way of what we thought would be announced.
Here are the Nintendo Switch-centric highlights from The Game Awards last night:
As you can see both Fortnite and Celeste had a fairly big night!
The announcements of Mortal Kombat 11, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled were pretty big shockers however not quite enough to get me on the hype train. In the past I was a huge fan of Mortal Kombat, even participating (and winning quite a few) arcade tournaments but as the years progressed the game became more focused on gore and mammaries and lost quite a bit of appeal to me.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 being announced as a Switch exclusive is huge news but what concerns me is the fact that Team Ninja is handling it and we all know that with them it is usually hit or miss…..Metroid: Other M anyone?
The remaster of Crash Team Racing looks like much fun but ultimately, why even try to infringe on the kart racing genre that Nintendo rules over? It was much fun back in the day but now that we have things like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe could it even possibly come close to being as fun?
Here are some trailers just in case you guys missed any of them:
Please be advised that the Mortal Kombat 11 trailer below is intended for mature audiences (parents, kick the kids out of the room!):
