4Gamer, a Japanese website, recently sat down with Sega’s localization producer Hiroji Noguchi and localization director Eigo Kasahara at the Tokyo Game Show 2018 where they inquired about the possibility of Shenmue I and II making its way to the Switch:
Hiroji Noguchi: Personally I think it would be nice to play Shenmue on Switch everywhere … (laughs)
Eigo Kasahara: I do not know if it can be done, but I take note of the views of the supporters. Even if answering this request, I would like to consider it.
Not really sure what he means by “I do not know if it can be done” but quite honestly, I believe the Switch is more than capable of handling a game like Shenmue. The HD remasters don’t really improve a whole lot over the original version. The main difference just looks to be extra lighting.
Honestly, I would LOVE to see Shenmue I and II come to the Switch. I enjoyed both games on the Dreamcast (I had to import the European Shenmue II since we didn’t get an official release here in the States). The first Shenmue as a great experience, especially!
