My Nintendo Gold Points Can Be Used Towards Switch Online Membership

Finally, we have something useful we can spend our My Nintendo gold points on.  When digging deeper on the Nintendo of America Switch Online faq you will see that it states:

Can I use My Nintendo Gold Points to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online membership?
Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop. They cannot be used for auto-renewal.

This is some great news, however it does not detail how many points it will be nor the percentage off of the total value that will be knocked off for using the points.  It is worth noting that 100 gold points is the equivalent of $1 USD but it has been in the past that so many points will deduct a certain percentage from the cost of a digital title.  If we were to go by the 100 points:1 USD then to pay for an entire 1 year membership you would need roughly 1,999 gold points…..hope you’ve been saving.

As always, let us know what you think in the comments below and then be sure to hop on over to our Community forums for some more in-depth conversation!
