There is no question that Dead Cells has been taking the charts by storm ever since releasing on May 10th. Currently it is sitting at number five on the Switch eShop Best Sellers list, with the price tag of $24.99. That may seem like a hefty price for an indie title but if reviews are any indication, it is well worth it. For more information, check out our own review by Duarte Da Silva.
If you have been wondering about how well the title has been selling on the Switch, Destructoid has recently spoken to a marketer for Dead Cells at PAX who revealed that it is outselling the PS4 version by 4 to 1.
Indies have, for the most part, always been more successful on Nintendo platforms but when you compare the install base for both the PS4 and the Switch, PS4 has a considerably larger amount of units sold. This is expected since the PS4 has been on the market longer but when you look at the ratio of 4:1 for Dead Cells it is quite astonishing.
Is this because Switch owners are more apt to purchase indie titles than PS4 owners? Perhaps they own both systems but prefer to have the game readily available to play anywhere they want? Either way, it can only mean good news for Nintendo moving forward.
