Nintendo has recently posted two jobs looking for candidates to work with user interfaces and menus at their Kyoto headquarters. The job roles are fairly self-explanatory so I will spare you the details but this news actually comes as somewhat of a disappointment.
What this news does reveal is that there isn’t already one in the works for the Switch which is unfortunate being that so many people have been wanting a new and improved interface complete with the ability to utilize folders in order to organize game better.
Another feature that has been needed is a better eShop interface that will allow the user to find games that they find more appealing. As it is right now, both the Switch interface and the eShop interface are very “watered down” compared to the Wii U and the Wii before it. I suppose the term here would be “minimalistic”.
With the roll out of Switch Online next month, we were really hoping that a new interface for either the eShop, Switch home screen, or even both would be one of the features that came with that. As it is right now, we don’t believe that all features of Switch Online has been revealed. Nintendo usually keep a few surprises to themselves given their track record.
What are your thoughts on this? Does this please you knowing that Nintendo is looking to create a better interface or do you find this disappointing that one wasn’t already in the works? Do you even think this is Switch related? It could very well turn out that this is for the interface for their next system which Nintendo has stated, themselves, that they begin R&D on the next system as soon as they release a console.
